The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has appointed Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi as the director of the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB). This decision was announced by Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko on September 6.

The Prime Minister noted that after conducting the necessary checks and polygraph testing there is a ban on the candidacy of Tsyvinskyi. She emphasized that the government expects the Bureau to be updated, strengthened, and to achieve a higher level of trust between BEB and Ukrainian businesses.

Tsyvinskyi, who until now was the head of the investigative unit of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, won the competition for this position on June 25, 2025. However, the start of his appointment was delayed due to the emergence of issues concerning his responsibility for the criteria of security, including recommendations from the Security Service of Ukraine related to checks on candidates connected with Russia.

The Prime Minister announced the necessity of conducting polygraph testing on September 1, and on September 6, Tsyvinskyi confirmed that he successfully passed the testing. According to the information, the government was supposed to appoint the head of BEB by July 31 within the framework of the Memorandum with the International Monetary Fund regarding economic policy.
