The Prosecutor's Office is Investigating the Murder of a Civilian in the Donetsk Region

The prosecutor's office opened a criminal proceeding following the murder of a civilian in the Donetsk region by Russian soldiers, which is being investigated as yet another military crime.

According to the information from the General Prosecutor's Office, a video was published on Telegram, showing how a civilian attempts to evacuate from the village of Udachne. The man was walking along the road, holding a wallet with personal documents. A Russian soldier, who was located in a ruined building, opened fire and killed the passerby with an automatic weapon.

The fact of the military crime, which led to the death of a person (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations.

Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office, investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine are conducting a judicial investigation. Urgent investigative actions are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the incident and the identity of the Russian servicemen involved in the commission of this crime.

This is the third case of civilian murder by occupying forces, recorded by regional prosecutors this year.

Military Crimes Committed by Russian Soldiers Against Ukrainians

Recently, two officers of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia were charged with official accusations in the harshest form regarding the killing of a Ukrainian serviceman by the Sapphire detachment near Zmiinyi Island. Prosecutors also charged Russian soldier Sergey Tuzhilov, who is threatening with life imprisonment for the murder of a Ukrainian serviceman.

Earlier, Ukrainian special services managed to identify Russian soldiers who tortured civilians during the occupation of parts of the Kyiv region.

In addition, prosecutors recently filed charges against a Russian commander, related to the mass murders of civilians and servicemen during the occupation of the Kyiv region in 2022.
