- The show The Box will be his first project after leaving the BBC.
- Filming is planned for autumn 2025, with the premiere set for spring 2026.
Gary Lineker, former host of Match of the Day, is returning to the screen after signing a contract to host a new game show on ITV called The Box. This will be his first major television project after departing from the BBC in April 2025.
Lineker, who was the highest-paid presenter at the BBC, left the company after a controversy surrounding social media posts that could be perceived as anti-Semitic. After this, he decided to step back from his duties.
The show The Box will feature 12 celebrities placed in separate boxes, from which they will emerge to participate in various challenges. The format of the show has already become popular in Norway, and ITV hopes that this program will take the place of Saturday Night Takeaway, which will conclude in spring 2024.
Filming for the new show is planned for autumn 2025, with the premiere possibly taking place in spring 2026.
Lineker also intends to continue his activities in podcasts through his company Goalhanger Podcasts, which produces a number of successful shows.
