Francis Ford Coppola, 86-year-old director of famous films "The Godfather" and "Apocalypse Now," underwent a planned medical procedure at the Policlinico Tor Vergata hospital in Rome on August 5, 2025. His representative reported that the director is feeling well after the procedure.

Coppola was hospitalized for a routine heart procedure, which had been scheduled in advance. The representative noted that there were no emergency situations, and the director remained in the hospital for observation.

Coppola himself confirmed his health in a post on Instagram, where he wrote that "everything is fine" and during his stay in Rome he was considering the possibility of redoing his 30-year-old procedure under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Natale, who has been his doctor for over 30 years.

The director is also in Italy to promote his new film "Megalopolis," which received mixed reviews after its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. Coppola plans to shoot another film, which is set to start in the spring.
