Rescue operations continue after floods in India
- More than 100 people are considered missing after the floods
- Four people have died, rescuers continue their work
- The situation is complicated by adverse weather conditions
In the northern state of India, Uttarakhand, rescuers are searching for missing persons after severe floods that occurred on August 5, 2025, in the village of Dkharaali. The floods, triggered by heavy rainfall, have claimed the lives of at least four people, while more than a hundred are believed to be missing.
Strong rains have caused the riverbanks to overflow, which has damaged roads and buildings in the village. The authorities confirmed that at this moment, they managed to rescue nearly 130 people, but rescuers are facing difficulties due to adverse weather conditions and damaged roads.
Among the missing are at least 11 soldiers of the Indian army, who were stationed in a camp in Hardisil, not far from the village. Currently, rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force, as well as the army, are trying to reach the affected areas.
The governor of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, stated that the situation is serious and the government is providing all necessary assistance. The authorities have also urged residents to evacuate due to rising water levels.
Experts believe that such floods will become more frequent due to climate change, and indicate that similar floods have already occurred in the region in the past.
