U.S. President Donald Trump will hold a meeting with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan at the White House on August 8, 2025. According to information from official sources, during the meeting, there may be an announcement regarding the framework of a peace agreement.
Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan confirmed his visit to the U.S., where he will hold a bilateral meeting with Trump regarding strengthening strategic partnership. Also participating in the negotiations will be the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
The previous meeting between Pashinyan and Aliyev took place in the United Arab Emirates, but did not result in significant outcomes. The conflict between the countries has been ongoing since the late 1980s, when Nagorno-Karabakh declared independence from Azerbaijan with the support of Armenia.
In the fall of 2023, Azerbaijan resumed control over Nagorno-Karabakh, which led to a mass exodus of ethnic Armenians from the region. Armenia accuses Azerbaijan of trying to erase traces of the Armenian presence in this region, and the matter is being addressed by the International Court.
In particular, on July 5, Pashinyan expressed hope that an agreement with Azerbaijan could be signed by the end of 2025, emphasizing that achieving peace is one of the priorities of Armenia's foreign policy.
