Francis Ford Coppola, the 86-year-old director known for films like "The Godfather" and "Apocalypse Now," was hospitalized in Rome. According to local media ZMI, he was admitted to the Policlinico Tor Vergata hospital in the afternoon for a scheduled operation related to heart problems.
Before the operation, Coppola experienced irregular heart rhythms, which led doctors to decide to place him under observation. The director recently attended the Magna Graecia film festival in Calabria, where he presented his latest film "Megalopolis." Coppola also toured the USA to promote this film, completing it on Friday.
The film "Megalopolis," which cost $120 million, received mixed reviews from critics. Coppola insists he is satisfied with his work. He expressed the importance of realizing his dream, regardless of the criticism.
This project has become particularly personal for him, as the director himself financed it through the sale of his vineyards. Despite the difficulties associated with the film, Coppola believes it is important to see it on the big screen.
