Iran executed punishment for espionage and affiliation with ISIS

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Iran executed two individuals in different cases on Wednesday, accusing one of espionage for Israel, while the other was affiliated with the terrorist group Islamic State.

According to information from the judicial news site Mizanonline, the individual suspected of espionage was Ruzbeh Vadi, who was accused of transmitting confidential information to the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.

Vadi provided information about an Iranian nuclear scientist, who was killed during Israeli airstrikes in June, where the name of the scientist was not disclosed, nor the time and place of Vadi's arrest.

Vadi met with Mossad agents five times in Vienna, Austria.

The Israeli ambassador to France, Joshua Zarka, stated that during the 12-day war against Iran, 14 physical and engineering personnel involved in Iran's nuclear program were killed.

Throughout the conflict with Israel, Iran executed several people for espionage, which sparked public outrage among activists over possible new waves of repression.

Additionally, Iran hanged a member of the terrorist group ISIS in the middle of the night, as he was identified as a prominent figure in planning sabotage, reported Mizanonline.

The government accused Mehdhi Agazadeh of being a member of ISIS, having participated in training in Syria and Iraq, unlike the four other team members who died in battle with Iranian security.

The government reported that the Iranian Supreme Court upheld the lower court's sentences and adhered to all legal procedures before carrying out the executions of both individuals.
