In Kabul, Afghanistan (AP) — Following the Taliban's takeover in 2021, women in Afghanistan have found themselves under strict restrictions. Banned from attending parks, sports facilities, and restaurants, and also prohibited from education after primary school, they have become part of a new order. For pharmacy students, the situation has become one of the most challenging blows.

One turned to online education, where she found a free programming course taught by a young Afghan refugee living in Greece. Sodaba stated: "I believe that a person should not be forced to live in constraints, but should have the ability to realize their dreams in various ways." New skills helped her regain confidence in herself.

The courses are organized by the company Afghan Geeks, founded by Murtaza Jafari, who also came to Greece as a refugee. He started these online courses to help women in his homeland, providing support that he himself received.

Currently, Jafari teaches 28 women in Afghanistan at different levels and assists them in finding online internships and jobs. For women in the region, where most professions are banned, the ability to work online is a lifeline.

In addition to Afghan Geeks, there is also the online academy Vision Online University, founded by a young woman named Zuhal, who dreams of university education. She and her team of 150 instructors provide free education for over 4000 female students, regardless of financial constraints and resources.

Zuhal noted that despite the difficulties, her goal is to support girls in their quest for knowledge.
