- The driver exceeded the speed limit by reaching 124 mph in Germany.

- About 30% of vehicles in Germany have speed limits.
In Germany, on the highway west of Berlin, the driver was caught driving at a speed of over 320 km/h (199 mph), which is a record exceeding the speed limit of 124 mph. The incident occurred on July 28 on the A2 motorway near the city of Burg.
The driver, whose name is not disclosed, received a fine of 900 euros ($1,043) and two penalty points on his driving record. He is also banned from driving for three months, reported the police of Magdeburg.
The driver was caught by a stationary radar, known as the "Enforcement Trailer," during a routine check. The radar recorded the "highest recorded speed" of 321 km/h (199 mph).
German highways pay attention to the global trend of having speed limits in many sections. However, in some parts of the motorway, where a record speed was recorded, the speed limit is 120 km/h (74.5 mph). In Germany, almost 30% of 8,000 miles of highways have established speed limits to regulate noise in urban areas and reduce risks on roads deemed unsafe for unimpeded traffic.
According to a survey from 2019, approximately half of Germans oppose the establishment of speed limits on highways.
