Vauxhall has introduced a new version of its electric crossover, the Frontera Electric, which features an improved battery. This model provides up to 253 miles on a single charge, priced at less than £28,000.

The new version with an expanded energy storage has replaced the standard battery with a 54 kWh unit, which adds 67 miles to the overall range in the WLTP cycle. It retains the same electric motor with a power output of 111 hp and 192 Nm of torque, as the base model with a 44 kWh battery.

Acceleration to 62 mph takes 13 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 88 mph. The charging speed reaches 100 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 20% to 80% in just 28 minutes.

The price for the new Frontera Electric starts at £27,495, which is lower than the £37,000 for the new government grant program for electric vehicles in Great Britain. However, Vauxhall has not yet confirmed whether this vehicle will meet the criteria for the program; a similar model, the Citroën e-C3 Aircross, has already received less grant support in the amount of £1,500.

The Frontera is also available in two variants with hybrid engines, with power outputs of either 99 or 134 hp, priced from £24,225. Delivery of the Frontera Electric in Great Britain was planned for spring, but is currently delayed due to manufacturing issues.
