New York (AP) — James Patterson and Vicki Ward are working on a new book dedicated to the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson and the investigation into his suspected murderer, Luigi Mangione.

The publisher Little, Brown & Company announced this collaboration, which currently has no title or release date. Patterson, one of the most popular novelists in the world, and Ward, an investigative journalist, plan to feature exclusive interviews, personal testimonies, and court protocols such as jury information.

Mangione has not admitted guilt in the federal indictment for murder, which occurred in the early summer of last year near a hotel in Manhattan. He, a graduate of the Ivy League from a family of well-known realtors, has become a symbol of disappointment in the country's healthcare system.

"This is a story about the American dream, which went awry. It is also a story about how a young man transforms from an Ivy League graduate into a suspected murderer and so-called political monster," Patterson noted in his statement.

The book by Patterson and Ward, "Four from Aida," published last month, quickly became a bestseller after Brian Kochberger received four weeks of indefinite suspension without the possibility of expulsion for the murder of students Ksaney Kernodle, Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapin, and Kaylee Goncalves in 2022.
