Instagram is launching new features that allow users to share their location and repost content. The new Instagram Map feature enables users to share their recent location activity and discover content based on location. This feature, which is an analogue to Snap Map, does not provide real-time updates, but only displays location activity at the time of opening the program.

Instagram is also introducing the ability for reposting content, allowing users to share posts from other accounts in their own stories. These reposts will be displayed in a new tab on the user's profile and in the stories of their followers. This feature allows users to easily share interests and expand their audience for content creators.

Instagram is also expanding the Friends tab in Reels, which is now globally available. This tab shows what content friends have interacted with, allowing users to see posts they liked or commented on.

New features will begin rolling out in the United States on September 6, 2025, with further expansion to other countries. Instagram hopes these changes will enhance user engagement with organizations, fostering interaction with content created by their friends and favorite creators.
