The Cleveland Browns announced that rookie Shedeur Sanders will play in his debut match in the preseason game against Carolina Panthers on Friday evening. Head coach Kevin Stefanski noted that a final decision on the starting quarterback has not yet been made.
Sanders, who was selected in the NFL draft in the fifth round, previously received the Johnnie Unitas award for his performance in college. In this season, he has demonstrated good play during training, which has caught the attention of the coaching staff. His mechanics and quick release have received positive feedback from scouts.
Stefanski mentioned that Sanders needs to simplify his game to focus on the core concepts. At the same time, other quarterbacks on the team, Dillon Gabriel and Kenny Pickett, are expected to miss the game due to injuries.
Head coach of the Panthers Dave Canales confirmed that Broncos Young will start the game at quarterback, emphasizing the importance of gaining experience for the young players.
