NATO Responds to Violations of Lithuanian Airspace
- NATO confirms the seriousness of the situation with Russian drones.
- Lithuania calls on NATO to strengthen air defense.
- Violations of airspace occurred in July and September.

NATO seriously perceives the violations of Lithuanian airspace by Russian drones. This was announced by NATO spokesperson Jens Stoltenberg.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte held a meeting with the Minister of National Defense of Lithuania, Arvydas AnuĊĦauskas, during which recent incidents involving Russian military drones were discussed.
"NATO takes these incidents seriously. We remain vigilant and ready to protect every inch of NATO territory," he emphasized.
Violations of Airspace
On July 28, a Russian combat drone, similar to a Shahed, was detected on the territory of Lithuania. The incident occurred that same night when Russia launched drone attacks on Ukraine.
On September 1, another Russian drone was found at a training ground in Lithuania, having crossed into Lithuanian airspace from Belarus.
In response, the Ministers of National Defense and Security of Lithuania sent a letter to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte demanding the implementation of measures to strengthen Lithuania's air defense and accelerate the realization of the rotational air defense model.
