OpenAI proposes ChatGPT to the US government for a symbolic dollar

  • OpenAI proposes ChatGPT for federal agencies at a rate of 1 dollar per license.
  • The collaboration with GSA allows for improved work of government employees.
  • It ensures free access to additional training resources.

The company OpenAI has signed an agreement with the General Services Administration (GSA), which allows federal agencies to access ChatGPT Enterprise for a symbolic fee of 1 dollar per license. This decision promotes the implementation of artificial intelligence in government institutions, which is part of President Donald Trump's plan for the development of AI technology.

The agreement was announced in July 2025, when GSA added OpenAI to the list of approved AI technology vendors. OpenAI hopes that this step will help enhance the effectiveness of government employees, who are expected to save up to 95 minutes a day by performing routine tasks.

In addition to access to ChatGPT Enterprise, OpenAI provides federal employees with free access to expanded models for an additional 60 days, as well as training resources for familiarization with new tools. Ensuring data confidentiality remains a priority for government institutions, which are structured to protect sensitive information.

GSA confirmed that the government maintains a cautious approach to the implementation of AI, guaranteeing the protection of sensitive information while simultaneously striving to enhance the effectiveness of work through the utilization of new technologies.
