Trump discussed progress in negotiations with Putin regarding Ukraine

President of the USA Donald Trump stated about the achievement of "significant progress" in negotiations with Russia, without mentioning that the war in Ukraine continues. Trump instructed his special envoy Steve Vitkoff to hold a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, which took place on August 6, 2025.

After three-day negotiations, Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social that "everything is coming together: this war needs to be concluded." However, he did not provide any details about possible concessions from the Russian side. Trump previously gave Putin a deadline last week for reaching an agreement on a ceasefire, and in case of non-compliance, to impose new sanctions.

Kremlin representative Yuri Ushakov stated that the negotiations were "constructive and useful," but did not specify details. Trump also communicated with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive ceasefire and the resumption of peace negotiations.

Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to suffer from attacks, including as a result of airstrikes on civilian infrastructure. The Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Svitlana Grinchuk, stated that strikes on energy facilities threaten the safety of all of Europe.

At the same time, Trump increased pressure on India, which continues to purchase Russian oil, stressing the need to reduce financing of the Russian military machine. Thus, Trump's policy regarding Russia demonstrates changes that could impact international relations and further develop the conflict in Ukraine.
