Spal Officially Announces Bankruptcy and Withdrawal from Excellence

The Historic Spal Club Ceases to Exist Due to Bankruptcy
The Spal club, which once had a large following in Serie A, has officially ceased its activities following a court ruling on bankruptcy. This happened after the club was unable to register for the upcoming Serie C season and was excluded from the Italian football pyramid.
Despite the fact that for several months Spal had been winning playoffs to avoid relegation, financial problems led to the club's inability to meet the requirements for registration for the 2025/26 season. Judge Anna Ghedini upheld the ruling on the club's liquidation, which belonged to Joe Tacopina and Marcello Follano.
The club's debut, including debts before players, suppliers, and employees, is estimated to be more than 10 million euros. The historic brand and name Spal will be put up for auction.
In place of the former club, a new team called Ars et Labor has been created, which has already registered to participate in Excellence, the fifth division of Italian football.
