  • Syria signed agreements worth 14 billion dollars for investments.
  • The projects include an airport, a metro, and residential towers.
  • These agreements are part of the recovery of the economy after the war.

Syria signed agreements worth 14 billion dollars with regional and international companies for 12 investment projects, which include the modernization of the international airport in Damascus and a new subway system. These agreements have become the largest since foreign companies began to invest in the country after the easing of Western sanctions.

The head of the Syrian Investment Agency, Talal al-Halili, reported that the expansion of the international airport in Damascus will cost 4 billion dollars, and the project will be implemented by the Qatari company UCC Holding. After the completion of the airport expansion, it will be able to service up to 31 million passengers per year.

In addition, the agreement for the new subway system is estimated at 2 billion dollars, and the network will be able to serve 750 thousand people per day. This agreement was signed by the Ministry of Transport of Syria and the National Investment Corporation OAE.

Among other projects – the construction of 60 residential towers with 20 thousand apartments for 2 billion dollars in the vicinity of the capital. Al-Halili noted that Syria is open for investment and is eager to build a bright future.

It is worth noting that in July, Syria and Saudi Arabia signed agreements worth 6.4 billion dollars for the recovery of the economy after 14 years of civil war.
