The Palestinian Football Association reported the death of the former player of the national team Suleiman Al-Obeid, known as "the Palestinian Pele." According to the federation's information, the 41-year-old footballer was killed as a result of the Israeli forces' shelling while waiting for humanitarian aid in the southern sector of Gaza on September 6, 2025.

Al-Obeid began his career at the club "Hajamat Al-Shati", later playing for the clubs "Markaz Shabab Al-Amari" in Jordan and "Gaza Sports Club." During his career, he scored over 100 goals and was one of the stars of Palestinian football, having scored two goals in 18 matches for the national team.

The federation reported that since the beginning of the conflict in the Middle East, 321 individuals from the football community have been killed, including players, coaches, and administrators.
