Operation Trojan Horse: mass arrests of migrants in Los Angeles

  • Agents of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out a raid in Los Angeles.
  • The operation was conducted following a court ruling regarding the ban on mass arrests.
  • Penske did not know about the use of their trucks in the raid.

Los Angeles — On Wednesday, September 6, 2025, agents of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted a raid near a Home Depot store in Los Angeles, using a rented cargo truck. The operation, dubbed "Operation Trojan Horse," began around 6:45 AM. Agents emerged from the cargo truck and detained 16 individuals.

This raid took place a few days after a federal court upheld a ruling that prohibits the Trump administration from conducting mass arrests of migrants in Southern California. Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Esselstyn stated that "the enforcement of federal laws is not a subject for negotiation."

According to witness testimonies, agents initially approached workers who were arriving for work, asking about their employment and, when they gathered in a group, emerged from the vehicle. Representatives of the organization Union del Barrio reported that several street vendors and workers were detained, some of whom had legal status.

A representative of Penske Truck Rental noted that the company was not informed about the use of its vehicles in this operation and did not grant permission for this. In the statement, it is mentioned that the raids by immigration agents are occurring amidst mass protests against the immigration policy of the Trump administration.

Los Angeles, where a large number of immigrants reside, has become the center of an aggressive immigration strategy, within which federal agents are conducting operations in areas with high concentrations of immigrants, including stores, parking lots, and farms.
