The Trump administration plans to increase the presence of federal law enforcement agencies in Washington, D.C., on Thursday and Friday. This is connected to the attack on a well-known employee of the Department of State Efficiency, who became a victim.
To the structure of law enforcement agencies will include ICE, FBI, National Guard, and local agents of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Local federal agencies have been instructed to be ready for deployment.
An official representative of the House of Representatives stated that this step is not exclusively a response to the attack, but partially fulfills the presidential directive to "Make the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful." According to him, the attack underscores the need to increase the presence of law enforcement in the city.
Earlier, Trump stated about the possibility of expanding the National Guard in Washington due to the rising crime rate. He noted that the city has problems with violent crime, and emphasized the importance of improving the situation.
Mayor of Washington Muriel Bowser did not comment on the president's remarks. It is noted that violent crime in Washington has decreased by 26% since the beginning of the year, according to previous data from the police.
