Use of American Drones for Attacks on Schools in Gaza

  • HRW reported on the use of U.S. drones in attacks on educational institutions in Gaza.
  • Doctors in Gaza describe critical conditions in hospitals with increasing mortality rates.
  • Israeli strikes are aimed at military targets, but result in civilian casualties.

The organization Human Rights Watch (HRW) stated that the Israeli army is "illegally and indiscriminately" using American drones during attacks on schools in Gaza, which has led to the deaths of dozens of people. According to the HRW report, published on September 6, 2025, more than 2.1 million residents of Gaza have become homeless due to the military actions of Israel.

HRW's report indicates that Israeli strikes on school facilities have killed at least 836 Palestinians, and another 2,527 people have been injured. Specifically, on July 27, 2024, Israeli forces attacked a school in central Gaza, resulting in the deaths of at least 15 people.

Doctors from the U.S., who work in the Nasera hospital in the city of Khan Yunis, also described horrific conditions in which they are forced to work. They reported frequent fatalities among patients and a lack of essential medical equipment. On hospital floors, bodies are laid out, and medical personnel are unable to provide assistance to all the injured.

HRW called on the U.S. and other countries to stop selling weapons to Israel due to their use for violating international humanitarian law. Meanwhile, Israeli military officials assert that their actions comply with international law and are aimed at eliminating military targets, which, according to HRW, does not justify the killing of civilians.

The situation in Gaza continues to worsen, particularly due to bombings and blockades, which, according to HRW, have made much of the region unlivable. In addition, according to local health authorities, since the beginning of the conflict, over 61,000 Palestinians have been killed, including thousands of children.
