The new tariffs of US President Donald Trump will take effect on September 7, 2025, which escalated his trade war. Trump has been accused of imposing "reciprocal" tariffs that target wealthy countries.
In particular, India received a 50% tariff on its goods due to the continuation of imports of Russian oil. In response, the Indian government called this decision "unfair and baseless." Trump also imposed a 100% tariff on imports of foreign microchips, aiming to stimulate technological companies to invest in the USA.
Additionally, Brazil increased its tariffs by 50% on exports to the USA, which became a result of criticism from Trump directed at the Brazilian president. Countries such as the United Kingdom, Japan, and South Korea have already concluded agreements to reduce tariffs.
