Kris Vokes, a player for the England national team, revealed that no one thought about not going onto the field, even with an injury. He went into battle in the fifth test against India, when the team was left with 17 overs to spare. Vokes received a painful blow, trying to save the ball on the field, but ultimately decided to try to play, regardless of the injury.

Vokes aimed to play with his left arm, to reduce the strain on his injured shoulder. He said that he felt a significant pain, but still felt the obligation to go onto the field for the sake of the team. "I couldn't live with the thought that I didn't try," Vokes noted.

Vokes did not get hit, but he aimed to run four runs, while his partner from the team, Husa Atkinson, did not take the hit. The match ended with a draw of India at six runs, which leveled the series to 2-2.
