Romanian Minister Delegated for Child Protection Visited Okhmatdyt in Kyiv

On September 7, 2025, the Romanian Minister for National Minorities, Oana Tăiu, visited the children's hospital Okhmatdyt in Kyiv, which had been damaged as a result of a missile strike by Russia last year.

This visit became the first for the Romanian Minister for National Minorities since the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine in 2022. Tăiu emphasized that this visit is an important signal of solidarity from Romania to Ukraine.

The Minister noted that the visit to the Okhmatdyt hospital took place on the anniversary of the brutal military attack on the institution. She stated that this was a heinous military crime that should not go unpunished.

In addition to the hospital, Tăiu also handed over a school for super-heroes, which operates at the National Institute of Cancer. She noted that the children who are taught there demonstrate incredible strength of spirit, continuing their education during ongoing treatment.

The Minister expressed support for Ukraine in its legal struggle and stated that Romania will continue to stand by Ukrainians during these challenging times.
