Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison sustained an injury during the previous friendly match and, according to reports, will miss most of the new season.
Maddison suffered an injury during a friendly match against Newcastle in Seoul, when he was substituted in the game. The injury occurred approximately ten minutes after his exit from the field.
The club confirmed that Maddison requires surgery, which will take place in the coming days. After this, he will begin rehabilitation with the medical team of the club.
This injury is a recurrence, as earlier in the season Maddison also missed part of the European League due to a similar problem with the same knee.
Head coach of Tottenham Thomas Frank noted that the first signs indicate the seriousness of the injury. Maddison, who started 45 matches in the previous season, also missed part of the season due to an injury last summer.
The Tottenham team is preparing for new matches, including a friendly against Bayern in the friendly match, as well as the start of the season in the Premier League against Burnley.
