Israeli Cabinet Meeting to Discuss Gaza Expansion Plans
- The Israeli cabinet meeting will take place this evening.
- Plans for the expansion of military operations in Gaza are being discussed.
- The humanitarian situation in the region continues to deteriorate.
This evening, the Israeli cabinet is planning to hold a meeting to approve plans for the expansion of operations in Gaza. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is preparing a proposal for the gradual capture of Gaza, disregarding international criticism of the humanitarian situation in the region.
At the meeting, which starts at 18:00 local time, the cabinet will discuss a plan that envisions the capture of Gaza over the coming months. According to information received from various sources, this plan may lead to new mass displacements of Palestinians.
Yesterday, the Israeli army issued new orders for the imminent relocation of parts of Gaza, including in Gaza and Khan Younis. Meanwhile, international mediators, such as Egypt and Qatar, are urging Israel to refrain from implementing this plan.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains critical. According to EU data, only 1.5% of agricultural land remains accessible for processing, which is a significant reduction compared to previous years. Furthermore, the Israeli blockade has led to a worsening of the hunger crisis, as evidenced by the latest reports indicating new victims of hunger.
In light of these events, Netanyahu has called for the release of hostages, stressing that the army is ready to carry out any decision made by the political-security cabinet.
