Three individuals, two women and a man, were arrested and charged in support of the banned terrorist organization Palestine Action. They were arrested in Westminster during the protest in central London on July 5.
Arrestees: Jeremy Shipman, 71, from West Sussex, Judith Murray, 71, from Surrey, and Fiona Maclean, 53, from Hackney. They are set to appear before the court in Westminster on February 16.
These charges were announced ahead of the planned protest in support of Palestine Action, which will take place on Saturday at the parliamentary square in London, where organizers expect more than 500 participants.
Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Counter-Terrorism Command of the Met, stated that anyone who publicly supports Palestine Action violates anti-terrorism legislation and may be arrested. He also noted that three individuals were arrested on July 5, and that the case involves an additional 26 people who were detained on the same day.
The group "Defend Our Juries" confirmed that during the protest participants plan to hold placards with the message "I am against genocide, I support Palestine Action." This action is part of a campaign against the banning of Palestine Action.
The ban on Palestine Action was introduced after two Voyager aircraft were dispatched to RAF Brize Norton on June 20, which resulted in losses amounting to nearly 7 million pounds sterling. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Yvette Cooper, announced plans to ban this organization due to its history of criminal acts.
Along with new laws, supporting Palestine Action is a criminal offense that carries up to 14 years of imprisonment.
