Leroy Carter Resolves Passport Issue Before Debut
- Leroy Carter received a call-up to the All Blacks squad after an unexpected phone call.
- The dog of the player had issues with his passport, which created difficulties before the departure.
- The New Zealand team is heading to Argentina on September 16 for a match against Puma.
Leroy Carter, a player for the New Zealand team, received an unexpected invitation to the squad for the Rugby Championship, but got stuck with the problem when he found out that his dog had lost its passport.
The 26-year-old player, who represents the Chiefs, was one of four newcomers in the squad, selected by coach Scott Robertson. Carter explained that he received the call from the coach while he was in a café with his partner and teammates.
After receiving the news about being included in the squad, he left the passport on the table, while his dog, while his partner was training, lost the document. "I was trying to get a temporary passport, but, as it turns out, everything has been resolved," he said.
The team is traveling to Argentina on Friday, September 16, ahead of the match against the Pumas, which will take place in Córdoba. Carter previously represented New Zealand at the Olympic Games in rugby sevens and won a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
