U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday called for the resignation of Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan due to allegations regarding his ties with China. In his post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote: "The CEO of Intel is highly conflicted and should resign, terming it. No further decisions exist!".
This statement came after Republican Senator Tom Cotton sent a letter to the heads of Intel's board of directors, Frank Yeary, expressing concern regarding Tana's investment ties with Chinese companies, which allegedly have connections with the Communist Party of China and the People's Liberation Army.
In the letter, Cotton noted that Tan was appointed CEO of Intel in early 2025, and he oversees dozens of Chinese companies that have ties to the Chinese military. Intel's shares fell more than 4% in pre-market trading.
