Hamzat Chimaev has received a visa for his first fight in the USA in three years.
The sportsman, who has Russian origins, noted that the support of former US President Donald Trump was decisive for his return. Earlier, Chimaev struggled to fight in the USA due to visa issues.
Chimaev, who has won all 14 fights in his career, will face South African Dricus Du Plessis for the middleweight title at UFC 319 in Chicago on August 16. The sportsman mentioned that his visa was reinstated, and he can now compete again in the American arena.
Trump plans to hold a UFC event at the White House in 2026 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the USA. Although Chimaev does not consider it necessary for him to be invited to this event, he indicated that he has no political ambitions.
Despite past arrests in his career related to health issues and injuries, Chimaev hopes for a successful return to the USA with the support of Trump and UFC President Dana White.
