The Burnley club confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Martin Dubravka from Newcastle. The 36-year-old player signed a one-year contract after spending seven months with Newcastle.
Dubravka joined Newcastle in January 2018, initially on loan from Czech club Sparta Prague. During his appearances for "The Magpies," he played 179 matches, in which he kept 51 clean sheets. He played a vital role in Newcastle's promotion in the Carabao Cup, keeping three clean sheets, including in both matches against Arsenal.
Burnley was looking for a replacement for goalkeeper James Trafford, who returned to Manchester City in July. Dubravka became the eighth new player for the club this summer, joining Max Wiese, Quindlshay Hartman, Aksan Tuanzebe, Luma Tchauni, Kayla Uokera, Jakov Bruna Larsen, and Lesli Uhocuku.
The team from Lancashire is returning to the Premier League after having an impressive season in the Championship, where it earned 100 points and finished just one goal ahead of Leeds in the battle for the title.
Dubravka expressed positive thoughts about the club, stating: "I have heard only good feedback about the club, the culture, and the environment in which we work, so I am eagerly awaiting the start of the season." Burnley's first match in the Premier League will take place on August 16 against Tottenham.
