Manchester United is set to sign transfer target Benjamin Sesko
- Manchester United has agreed on a transfer for Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
- Sesko scored 21 goals last season in the Bundesliga.
- The clubs spent over £200 million on new players this summer.
Manchester United has reached a preliminary agreement with RB Leipzig regarding the transfer of forward Benjamin Sesko. The deal, which is valued at €76.5 million (£66.4 million; $89.1 million) with an additional €8.5 million in bonuses, is already in the finalization stage. Sesko has received clearance for medical tests before the transfer.
It is worth noting that Newcastle United also showed interest in Sesko, proposing €82.5 million plus €2.5 million in bonuses. However, the Slovenian forward prefers Manchester United, which has sparked active negotiations between the clubs.
Sesko, who played last season at RB Leipzig, scored 21 goals in all competitions and in two years at the German club has managed to tally 39 goals and 8 assists in 87 matches. His physical data and playing style have drawn comparisons to Erling Haaland, although Sesko still has to prove his prowess at the level of the English Premier League.
The agreement with Sesko is part of a large-scale transfer campaign by Manchester United, which has already spent over £200 million on new players, including Matheus Cunha and Brian Mbemou. The club aims to strengthen its attacking potential to return to the title race.
