On Wednesday evening, dispatchers received reports of a shooting in Glenwood, a town with a population of about 5,000, located approximately 150 miles (241 kilometers) south of the state capital, Des Moines. The chief of Glenwood police, Eric Johansen, noted that primarily two individuals were shot inside the building. The explosion, which happened shortly after the shooting, was reported to have caused a fire.

The police detained a person who raises suspicions in connection with the shooting and explosion. However, the police chief did not specify whether the detained individual was the one who sustained critical injuries. Additional information will be provided by representatives of the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations, who will lead the investigation.

The identities of the individuals who were injured have not yet been disclosed. The spokesperson for the Department of Criminal Investigations did not respond to requests for comments.
