Signing of Tom Party at Villarreal after being released from Arsenal

  • Tom Party signed a contract with Villarreal for two years.
  • The player is being accused in five cases of assault and sexual violence.
  • Villarreal supports the principle of presumption of innocence of Party.

Villarreal officially signed former Arsenal midfielder Tom Party. The 32-year-old player signed a contract for two years, with the possibility of extending for another year. He joined the club on a free transfer after the completion of his contract with Arsenal in June.

Party became a free agent after his contract with Arsenal ended on June 30. Four days later, he was presented with accusations in five cases of assault and one case of sexual violence. He denies all accusations.

Villarreal stated that the club acknowledges that the player is currently involved in judicial proceedings in Great Britain. The club emphasized that it adheres to the principle of presumption of innocence and is waiting for a resolution of the case.

According to the terms of the contract, Party cannot contact the three women who have become victims, and is required to notify the police of any changes to his address or international travel plans.

Party is expected to join the new team on Friday, and his next court hearing will take place on February 2 at the Old Bailey.
