Apple Launches Chip Production Together with Samsung in the USA
- Apple and Samsung are collaborating on chip production in the USA.
- Samsung will begin manufacturing sensors for the iPhone 18.
- The production in the USA will allow Apple to localize manufacturing.
This is reported by Mezha, CNET.
Apple has announced a partnership with Samsung for chip production at a factory in Austin, Texas. This is part of a larger investment by the company, amounting to $100 billion in manufacturing in the USA.
According to information provided by Apple, the new chip manufacturing technologies that will be implemented at the factory are unique and have not been previously used in the world. The chips are expected to optimize the performance and productivity of Apple products, including the iPhone.
In addition, Samsung will also produce triple image sensors for the iPhone 18, which will reduce Apple's dependency on Sony. These sensors will provide high-speed photography and the ability to capture video in 8K.
This move allows Apple to localize manufacturing, which was introduced during the administration of President Trump regarding chip imports, given that manufacturing must take place in the USA. Other Apple partners, such as Corning, GlobalWafers America, and Texas Instruments, are also expanding their manufacturing within the framework of the American manufacturing program.
