Two police officers in Pennsylvania were shot on Thursday morning while responding to a call in the northeastern part of the state. The incident occurred on the Route 171 in the township of Susquehanna, approximately 40 miles northeast of Scranton.
The governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, confirmed this information, stating that he is in contact with Police Chief Christopher Paris, who leads the state police. "The situation is active, and I plan to visit the scene of the incident after the operation is completed, during which I will be present," Shapiro said.
According to a police spokesperson, Trooper Logana T. Brauza, the officers were transported to a hospital, but their current condition is unknown. The governor and his friend expressed their condolences and support for the injured officers.
Senator Dave McCormick also expressed solidarity with the police, stating that he stands ready to support the development of events. A representative of the U.S. Rob Brecht said that he received information about the stable condition of the injured officers.
