Discussion of the Trump-Putin Meeting for Peace in Ukraine
- The meeting between Trump and Putin may not bring peace to Ukraine.
- Putin rejected proposals for a ceasefire.
- Scenarios for ending the war remain uncertain for Ukraine.
The meeting between the presidents of the USA and Russia, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, is considered an important step for discussing peace in Ukraine. This meeting may take place in the United Arab Emirates, a country that conducts a policy of friendship with all parties involved. There are concerns that it may not bring real results for Ukraine, taking into account Trump’s previous actions, which did not support the Ukrainian side.
Trump intends to leverage his personality to achieve an agreement, hoping that the meeting may change the Kremlin's position, although Putin previously rejected proposals for a non-binding ceasefire. At the same time, Putin aims to continue military actions to strengthen his position at the front.
If the meeting takes place, one of the possible scenarios is a trilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for discussions on ending the war. However, Putin may try to return Trump to the Russian narrative. At the same time, there is a risk that the deterioration of relations between the USA and Russia may leave Ukraine without support.
Considering possible scenarios for ending the war, several key options can be outlined. First, a non-binding ceasefire may be unlikely, as Putin does not intend to stop his military actions, when achieving success. Secondly, possible future negotiations may lead to the preservation of the current border, but not to a sufficient resolution. The third scenario suggests that Ukraine may endure pressure for support from the USA and Europe, although the situation remains tense.
At this moment, none of the possible scenarios is optimistic for Ukraine, and none of them guarantees the restoration of its sovereignty without Ukraine's involvement in future agreements.
