Chelsea Defender Levi Colwill Undergoes ACL Surgery
- Levi Colwill underwent surgery on a torn ligament.
- It is expected that he will miss a larger part of the season.
- Colwill was a key player for Chelsea last season.
Chelsea defender Levi Colwill underwent surgery on a torn anterior cruciate ligament, which he sustained during training. The incident occurred on Monday when Colwill, 22, returned to training after a break. During the last moments of the first session, he felt pain and it was confirmed that he had a torn ligament.
Chelsea manager Maeska noted that Colwill's condition has caused concern, and the team does not know how long he will be absent. The surgery was successful, and Colwill has begun rehabilitation under the supervision of the club's medical staff.
It is expected that Colwill will miss most of the season, as ACL injuries typically require six to nine months for recovery. In the previous season, he played 43 matches for Chelsea, becoming an important player for the team that secured fourth place in the Premier League and won the FIFA Club World Cup.
After the injury, there is a question about the possible replacement for Colwill in the team, although the manager noted that it depends on the further development of the situation.
