Rashawn Slater suffered an injury during Chargers training camp

  • Rashawn Slater suffered an injury during the Chargers training camp.
  • The injury occurred a few days after signing a new contract.
  • Teammates and friends on the team rallied to support Slater.

The star left tackle of the Los Angeles Chargers, Rashawn Slater, was carted off the practice field on Thursday after, according to previous reports, suffering an injury to his left leg.

Slater, who became the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history, signed a four-year contract extension just a week before the incident. When he was carted off, Slater removed his helmet, and then, covering his face with his hands, began to cry. It was hard not to notice that he could not put weight on his left leg.

The injury occurred during modified drills 11 on 11, when Slater was in position for a block. After quarterback Justin Herbert received the snap, one of the players fell on his left leg, causing Slater to fall to the ground.

Teammates rallied to help Slater during the two minutes after he was carted off the field. His teammates gathered to support him.

At the time of this article's writing, there has been no official update from the team regarding Slater's status.
