The soldiers who stopped the shooter at the military base Fort Stewart in Georgia on September 7, 2025, received recognition for their bravery. During the incident, when 28-year-old Sergeant Quornelius Redford opened fire, five people were injured, but all the injured are awaiting recovery.
Brigadier General John Lubas stated that military personnel "did not hesitate" to respond to the sound of gunfire and attacked the shooter. U.S. Army Secretary Den Driscoll stated that the soldiers "engaged in the fight" to prevent further injuries.

After the incident, six soldiers were awarded medals for their role in stopping the shooter. Among those awarded was Senior Sergeant Melissas Taylor, who provided first aid during the chaos.
The investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing, and there are no official statements regarding the motives of Redford, who served in the 2nd brigade of combat support.
