Military service members-transgenders do not receive early retirement pension

On July 7, 2025, Washington. The U.S. Armed Forces announced the refusal to provide the possibility of early retirement pension for military service members-transgenders who have 15 to 18 years of service. Instead, they will be dismissed without pension payments.

The document that became known states that these military service members will receive the same options as younger colleagues: to apply based on their own preferences with immediate payments or to be dismissed from service. According to the memorandum signed by Brian Scarlott, all applications for exceptions for early retirement pension were rejected.

Earlier, some military service members had already received approval for early retirement pension, but these decisions were rescinded. Representatives of human rights organizations stated that this decision is a serious blow to military service members who have served for many years.

It is expected that the actions of the Trump administration, which is aimed at banning transgenders from serving in the military, will have serious financial consequences for these individuals. In July, the Supreme Court upheld a decision allowing the Pentagon to implement a ban on the service of transgenders in the military units of the U.S.
