This agreement became a symbolic episode, as 25 years ago his father, George Weah, also signed a contract with this club. Weah Jr. recreated this episode, featuring on the cover of the French football magazine Onze Mondial, which depicted his father.

Timothy Weah, who arrived at Marseille on loan from Juventus, expressed his excitement about the club. He stated: "I come to Marseille with one goal — to win something. This is now my home, I am very proud to be here." The loan involves the club paying one million euros with the option to buy for 14 million euros.
