OXNARD, California. — On Thursday, August 7, 2025, Mike Parsons was not at the training of the Dallas Cowboys, which raised new questions regarding his status with the team. This is the first instance where, since the team’s arrival in California for training camp, he has missed practice.
The owner and general manager of the Cowboys, Jerry Jones, was also not present at the training, but his absence did not raise questions like Parsons’ absence did. Executive vice president of the Cowboys, Stephen Jones, confirmed that Parsons will remain with the team, regardless of feelings about his potential exit.
Thus, Prescott, the quarterback of the franchise, commented on the situation with Parsons. He started that negotiations might be complicated, emphasizing not to mix business with personal matters. Prescott noted that he has confidence in Jones and in the team, as well as in Mike and his team.
The situation escalated as on August 1 Parsons published a statement on social media, in which he expressed a desire to move to another team. This particularly added additional questions regarding his future with the Cowboys. However, the team stated that they have no intentions of releasing the star linebacker and hope to achieve a long-term agreement.
Regardless of this tension, the team is preparing for the first game of the preseason against the Los Angeles Rams, which will take place on Saturday.
