Trump announces deadline for Russia meeting after deadline for Russia
- Trump announced a deadline for Russia until August 8, 2025.
- The President of the USA plans a possible meeting with Putin to discuss peace.
- European leaders are determined to urge Russia to resume negotiations.
The President of the USA, Donald Trump, announced that the deadline for Russia regarding the end of the war in Ukraine or the lifting of serious economic sanctions will be August 8, 2025. Trump stated that if Russia does not show intentions for peace, he will impose new sanctions. However, in recent days, the President of the USA is preparing for a possible meeting with the Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Trump previously promised "additional sanctions" on countries that continue to purchase Russian energy. However, in the days leading up to the deadline, he has become less categorical in his statements, noting that everything depends on Putin.
At the same time, Trump and his team are working on organizing a summit with Putin, which could take place in the coming days. The Kremlin confirmed intentions for the meeting, discussing possible locations, including the United Arab Emirates. Trump also expressed a desire to hold trilateral negotiations involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, although specific conditions for such a meeting have not yet been clarified.
Some European leaders express concern that the summit may be an attempt by Putin to delay the war, avoiding new sanctions from the USA. Trump continues to express frustration regarding Putin's actions, but does not rule out the possibility of continuing negotiations.
