London -- Vice President of the USA J.D. Vance will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain David Lemmy on Friday at the Chevening residence, located south of London, before he heads off for a family vacation in Cottswolds, a popular resort in the English countryside.
Vance and Lemmy, who represent different political spectrums, established a personal connection through their shared childhood experiences and Christian faith. The meeting will focus on discussions regarding the conditions for the export of steel and aluminum from Great Britain to the USA, within the framework of a broader agreement, announced in early July.
On the agenda, it is likely there will also be discussions about Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, which has sparked debates between Washington and London on the best ways to resolve these conflicts.
Lemmy stated that, regardless of his affiliation with the Labor Party, he and Vance share a common experience of "disfunctional" working-class backgrounds. They met earlier at a Catholic service in Washington and during the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV in Rome.
After a few days in Chevening, Vance and his family will head to Cottswolds, which is famous for its picturesque villages, charming cottages, and rural locality. This area has become popular among wealthy American tourists.
Cottswolds occupies an area of approximately 800 square miles and encompasses parts of five counties in western England. According to British media, Vance and his family have rented a house in the village of Charlbury, about 12 miles northwest of Oxford.
