Russian occupiers have created a database of Ukrainian children for adoption

  • The database contains profiles of 294 children available for adoption.
  • The children are described in the catalog like products, which evokes a sense of commodification.
  • Research indicates there are 35,000 missing Ukrainian children.

This is reported by Ukrayinska Pravda, Meduza.

The Russian occupation authorities in the Luhansk region have created an online catalog, in which Ukrainian children are presented, who are under the control of the occupiers. The catalog includes photographs of the children and brief descriptions of their personalities.

This catalog is hosted on the website of the so-called Ministry of Education and Science of the LNR. Users can filter children by eye color, hair, and other characteristics.

The head of the organization "Save Ukraine" Mykola Kuleba, who first drew attention to this site, noted that the description of the children resembles a catalog of goods. "This is modern trafficking of children, and the world should respond to this in a timely manner," he said.

In total, the database contains 294 children aged up to 17 years. Most of them were born before the occupation and were Ukrainian citizens. Kuleba emphasized that some of them lost their parents as a result of the attacks by Russian troops, and others were taken by Russian authorities to legalize their abduction.

According to research teams from the Illya Mechnikov University, nearly 35,000 Ukrainian children are considered missing and are likely being held in Russia or in occupied territories.
