Israeli airstrike kills Palestinian official in Livan

On Thursday, August 8, 2025, as a result of the Israeli airstrike in eastern Livan, several people were killed, among whom was Mohammed Visha, a senior official of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), and his bodyguard. They were heading to Syria when they were attacked.

The airstrike occurred during a routine crossing of Masnaa. According to the Livan state information agency, as a result of the attack, six people were killed and ten were injured, but the identities of the deceased have not been confirmed.

A PFLP representative, Marwan Abdel-Al, expressed his condolences on social media, stating that "we have lost two of our dearest comrades, who sacrificed their souls for freedom."

Since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas in July 2023, Israel has carried out a series of strikes against Palestinian officials in Livan, including members of the PFLP. Earlier, in August, three PFLP members were killed as a result of an airstrike in the suburbs of Beirut.

Visha was born in Gaza in 1954 and spent five years in Israeli prisons after joining the PFLP in 1973. He had traveled to Livan to meet with other members of the organization.

In addition, on Friday, the Israeli drone attacked a car in the outskirts of southern Livan, resulting in the death of local journalist Mohammed Shehadeh.

Following the conclusion of the 14-month war between Israel and Hezbollah, Israel has been conducting relentless airstrikes on Livan, primarily targeting members of Hezbollah.
