Severe floods have claimed the lives of at least 10 people in China
- Floods in Gansu have claimed 10 lives and 33 are missing
- About 4,000 people have been left without communication due to the floods
- President Xi Jinping has called for rescue operations
At least 10 people have died, and 33 are missing as a result of severe flooding in the province of Yuzhong, located in the northwestern province of Gansu, Chinese state media reported.
Since Thursday, the region has experienced heavy rains that triggered the floods and, in some areas, a mudslide occurred in the mountainous areas near the city of Lanzhou, according to data from state television CCTV.
The floods have led to a power outage and telecommunications disruption in the area of Mount Silun, leaving more than 4,000 people isolated in four villages.
President of China Xi Jinping has called for all resources to be mobilized for rescue and recovery efforts in the area.
